Brian Berman, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Brian Berman is Professor of Dermatology and Internal Medicine at The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.  He received M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from New York University.  Following his residency training in dermatology and NIH Immunodermatology Fellowship at NYU, Dr. Berman was Assistant Professor of Dermatology at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, Professor of Dermatology and Vice-Chairman of the Department of Dermatology at The University of California, Davis, Chief of the Dermatology Service at the VA Medical Center, Martinez, CA, and Chairman of the Department of Dermatology at The Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida.  He is past President and Founder of The National Association of Veterans Affairs Dermatologists, serves as National Chairman of the Dermatology Field Advisory Group for The Department of Veterans Affairs, is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Sulzberger Institute, is Associate Editor of The European Journal of Dermatology, is an Editor of the journals Cosmetic Dermatology and SkinMed, and is Editor of The Miami Review.

In addition to his faculty clinical practice and in-patient consultation service, Dr. Berman directs a broad-based clinical research program and fellowship, while focusing his laboratory investigations on the control of scarring.  He is the author of more than 200 peer-reviewed scientific and clinical articles, chapters and books, is the recipient of the Dean’s Senior Faculty Clinical Research Award from the University of Miami School of Medicine, received the “Scientist of the Year 2004” Award from Sigma Xi the Science and Research Honor Society, and is included among “The Best Doctors in America”.
